Minimalistic Web Design That Works

Are you looking to freshen up your web design in 2019? Reorganizing and refreshing spaces is all the rage, and websites are not immune to the pattern. Minimalism is a theme for website design that you will see more of in the near future. It sounds easy, like all you have to do it take out the obvious clutter, but it may not be as easy as you think.

Before you simplify your website design, you have to have a clear idea of what you are trying to do online. If you are selling products, then helping your customer find the right product would be a high priority. If you are trying to recruit help for a non-profit, then having a sign-up page filled out would be the end goal, with some sort of commitment to help the cause. Extra features are tempting to offer your customer through your site, but the benefit of minimalistic web design is that it makes it easy for your customer to find what they need. There isn’t much else on the page.

Successful minimalistic website design is having exactly what you need in just the right place. Space on the page is at a premium. The closer the space is to the center, top and middle of the page, the more critical the space. This area gets the first opportunity to catch your client’s eye, and your client may spend more time looking in this area. This isn’t just your homepage. Every page of your site has “hot spots” that are more important than other areas. This is where minimalism pays off. You probably don’t want a picture of your kids in this area or a map of the city. These are areas that you need to maximize through simplification. Make your business logo obvious on every page. It’s a great branding opportunity. Make sure your “buy now” button is above the page fold, so you don’t have to scroll down to see it. Helpful video content on various topics can be lower on the page. A video about your brand, and why you do what you do- now that can go smack dab in the middle of the homepage.
