Website design isn’t what most people think it is. Website design isn’t at all about creating a fancy website that has all sorts of eye-catching slideshows, images and multimedia. It’s not about looks, it’s about what works. It’s about designing a website to have the highest conversion rate possible. Here are some tips on how to do that.

Have a Clear Call-To-Action

You don’t want your visitors to admire your website’s beauty; you want them to take action. Make sure that your call-to-action is clear and conspicuous to all visitors as soon as they land on your site. Make it unmistakable what you want them to do. Don’t just include your CTA on your homepage; include a clear CTA in the footer, header or sidebar so that it shows up all across your site.

Create a Menu, Not a Maze

Your menu shouldn’t be a maze. If you want your visitors to navigate to certain pages on your site, don’t make it difficult for them to find them. If a page is unimportant, exclude it from the menu. Stay away from drop-down menus that have to be opened by clicking a small button in a corner; you want a menu with options that are easily noticeable.

Clear Things Up

Don’t bombard your visitors with too many options, slideshows, multimedia, text or call-to-actions. The simpler your website is, the more conversions you will get. Don’t use fancy-sounding words that not everyone will understand; the average intelligence of online readers is on a seventh-grade level. Include plenty of white space and use a large font for your important points.
